Bio

Chun is a passionate engineer who will work alongside your business to apply academic and industrial research into real-world applications. As a project scientist with the National Space Academy, Chun has extensive knowledge and expertise to help accelerate your flood innovation idea.

ANTON JAMES

Project Manager & Business Development Coordinator

Bio

Anton is passionate about building relationships and finding solutions, with over 10 years’ experience in business development and account management working with large organisations to SME’s Anton will be the link between our clients and consultants. Feel free to contact him with any enquiries.

SAM RAMSDEN

Researcher

Specialities

Building flood resilience in Hull and the Humber: project design and management; qualitative and quantitative research & evaluations; work with communities and civil society, and feeding results into policy and practice

Bio

Sam is really excited to join the Flood Innovation Centre as it expands its support to local charities and community groups. Throughout his career he has supported different charities and community groups in the UK and overseas as a volunteer, programme manager and now through research. Sam did his PhD in Hull with the Department of Geography working in east Hull, and before returning to the UK, he lived and worked in Papua New Guinea, Pakistan, Vanuatu – although that seems a long time ago now!

EMMANUEL M ABALO

Technology Research Manager

Bio

Emmanuel is a passionate environmental scientist who takes joy with seeing his work having a qualitative impact on businesses and policies. He will use his expertise in flood resilience and problem identification to help your business get maximum benefit from its collaboration with the Flood Innovation Centre.

Josh Johnson

Technology Research Manager

Specialities

Fluvial geomorphology, morphological and groundwater numerical modelling, field data collection, agricultural soil monitoring

Bio

Josh is a geomorphologist with experience in numerical modelling and field surveys. He is looking forwards to applying his academic and practical skills to help businesses solve real word problems.

DR. CECILIA DE ITA

Researcher

Specialities

Flood research, sustainability research, climate change, stakeholder engagement, landscape use and management.

Bio

Cecilia has a mixed background in environmental and social sciences. She is currently researching the pathways for effective post-flood recovery with a focus on the Humber region.
She has worked closely with SMEs that have experienced flooding, and policymakers, NGO’s, community groups and other stakeholders involved in managing flood risk and recovery. Her experience includes working in the private sector as an environmental consultant.

MARY DEBENHAM

Finance & Audit Officer

Specialities

Finance, administration, data management & collection, compliance, account management, customer services and team support.

Bio

Mary has over 30 years banking experience including Business Relationship Management, Financial Analysis, Compliance and Data Protection in addition to working for the University of Hull for the last 5 years. Mary is responsible for the efficient and effective financial administration of the Flood Innovation Centre project including responsibility for audit administration.

OYINKANSOLA LAKANU

Administration Officer

Specialities

Brand and Account management, data management and collection, Marketing and Communications coordination, live events, and team support.

Bio

With a background in Marketing and Advertising, including supporting organisations in maintaining sustainable growth with administrative systems, Oyinkan will be there to ensure your application is pushed through the right systems, enabling you to receive the appropriate support package to meet your business needs.

AMY RICHARDSON

Marketing Manager

Bio

Amy works half-time with the Flood Innovation Centre team as part of her role as Energy and Environment Institute Marketing Manager. She has a broad and varied background in marketing and is passionate about supporting relationships between our academic experts and industry for the benefit of society.
