CONSTRUCTION SUPPORT

REGISTRATIONS FOR SUPPORT ARE CLOSED

Regrettably, we are no longer able to take new applications for funded support from the Flood Innovation Centre. However, the University of Hull remains a world-leading centre for expertise in flood resilience, so we would be happy to direct your enquiry to a relevant department via the contact form.

We have left the remaining content of this page live, so visitors can review the support that was offered to SMEs and charitable organisations during the life of the project and examples of ongoing University of Hull expertise.

CHANGE IS COMING FOR CONSTRUCTION

Don’t get left behind when new legislation hits!

The Flood Innovation Centre can build a FREE package of support to help you navigate the impact of changes being introduced to Government planning legislation. All new building developments will be required to include sustainable drainage systems, often referred to as SuDS, from 2024. Are you ready?

Developers will be expected to integrate alternative solutions to improve drainage, including ‘nature-based solutions’, particularly in urban areas to enable systems to cope with both runoff and wastewater. Construction companies will be called on to implement these new solutions.

We can help eligible Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) involved in all stages of the construction process to develop new services, whether you’re involved in planning, build or post-build maintenance.

We tailor our services to the needs of you and your business, so contact our friendly team today for an informal chat on 01482 462275

SUPPORT TO GROW INTO NEW MARKETS

M.B.Roche & Sons Limited is a well established Civil Engineering, Infrastructure & Construction Contractor based in Hull & East Yorkshire. They recognised the need to add new sustainable drainage services to their portfolio to meet growing demand.

Through Flood Innovation Centre support, Roche has developed relationships with key local stakeholders, University of Hull Estates, Living with Water, the Energy & Environment Institute and GreenBlue Urban.  They have increased their work opportunities in sustainable drainage, educated their workforce around blue green infrastructure and increased their confidence to respond to tenders.

“Working with the Flood Innovation Centre has already helped us to secure new work and allowed us to include sustainable drainage installation and installation of hydraulic monitoring systems as services that we can confidently offer to the local area.”

Dan Roche, Director
